Food weighing in Finland


We did a food waste project in our school. After all the students in our school had eaten their daily lunch the students were told to bring their food waste to the buckets in the canteen. We measured the amount of food waste each class left. Class 2A had the least amount of waste (0,564 grams per student in the class, 14,1 grams in total) and class 2-3e had the biggest amount of waste (58,75 grams per student in the class, 470 grams in total). After this the winner got a prize and we gave ice cream to each student in class 2A.

The amount of food waste for the whole school was 7,9 kilos. So in average, each student put 17,2 grams of food in the food waste bucket.
