Our school has two separate eating groups during two breaks.
In the first group there were students from forms 1-7, total number was 162 students. For the first group there was made 104,3 kg of food. There were 3,5 kg of leftovers.. So every student threw away about 0,02 kg of their food.
In the second group there are 138 students from forms 8-12. On 22 January 2015 only 108 student had their lunch.Their food weight was 93,1 kg.
19 teachers also ate in the school canteen during the second shift and their food weight was 12,8 kg. Altogether there were 25 kg of leftovers during the second lunch break. It turned out that older students and teachers throw away approximately 0,1 kg of their lunch food.
To sum up, the weight of leftovers was 28,5 kg. During the observation it turned out that students mostly threw away potatoes and apple hearts. Other students who do not participate in our project did not know anything about the food weighing.
